This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ 18
{18} Maana yake ni kwamba hawa wanaokadhibisha wanangoja lingine "isipokuwa iwafikie Saa (ya Kiyama) kwa ghafla" hali ya kuwa hawajui? "Na hakika alama zake zimekwisha kuja." Yaani, ishara zake zinazoashiria ukaribu wake. “Na itakapowajia, kutawafaa nini kukumbuka kwao?" Hayo yatakuwa yameshachelewa na wakati wa kukumbuka umeshapita. Kwani, walipewa umri wa kutosha kukumbuka mwenye kukumbuka, na akawajia Mwonyaji? Basi katika haya kuna kutia hamu ya kujiandaa kabla ya kifo kuja ghafla. Kwa sababu, kifo cha mtu ndiyo kusimama kwa Saa yake (ya Kiyama).
