This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ 1 مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ 2
{1 - 2} Mwenyezi Mungu Mtukufu anaapa kwa kalamu, nalo ni jina la jenasi linalojumuisha kalamu ambazo aina mbalimbali za elimu zinaandikwa kwazo, na ambazo kwazo nathari na mashairi yanaandikwa. Hilo ni kwa sababu kalamu na vyote vinavyotumika katika kuandika aina mbalimbali za maneno ni miongoni mwa ishara zake kubwa, ambazo kwazo [Mwenyezi Mungu] anastahiki kuapa kwazo juu kwa kuwa mbali kwa Nabii wake – Mwenyezi Mungu amfikishie rehema na amani – kutokana na wendawazimu waliomnasibisha nao maadui zake. Basi akamkanushia kwa neema ya Mola wake Mlezi juu yake na wema wake. Ambapo alimneemesha akili kamilifu, maoni ya sawasawa na usemi wenye maamuzi ya kukata, ambao ndicho bora zaidi ambacho kalamu ziliwahi kuandika na kuandikwa na wanadamu, na hili ndilo furaha katika dunia.
