Aal-i-Imraan
This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ ۗ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 168
{168} Kisha Yeye Mtukufu akasema, “Wale waliowaambia ndugu zao, na wao wenyewe walikuwa wamekaa: Lau wengelitutii, wasingeliuliwa.” Yani, walichanganya kati ya kubaki nyuma ya jihadi na kupinga na kukadhibisha hukumu ya Mwenyezi Mungu na majaliwa yake. Mwenyezi Mungu akasema akiwajibu, “Sema: Ziondoleeni,” yani zizuieni “nafsi zenu mauti kama nyinyi ni wakweli.” Kwamba lau wangewatii nyinyi (wanafiki) wasingeliuawa. Hamna uwezo juu ya hilo wala hamliwezi. Na katika Aya hizi kuna ushahidi kwamba mja anaweza kuwa na sifa ya ukafiri ndani yake na sifa ya imani. Na anaweza kuwa karibu zaidi na mmoja ya mbili hizi kuliko ile nyingine.
