Ash-Shu'araa
This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ 72 أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ 73 قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ 74
{72-74} Ibrahimu akawaambia, akielezea kutostahili masanamu hayo kuabudiwa, "Je, yanawasikia mnapoyaita?" Ili wawaitikie maombi yenu, na kuwaondolea shida zenu na kila chenye kuchukiza. "Au yanawafaa, au yanawadhuru?" Kwa hivyo wakakubali kwamba haya yote hayapo ndani ya masanamu hao, hayasikii mwito, wala hayafai, wala hayadhuru! Na ndiyo maana, alipoyavunja na akasema, "Bali amefanya hayo huyu mkubwa wao. Basi waulizeni ikiwa wanaweza kutamka." Wakamwambia, "Wewe unajua kwamba hawa hawesemi." Na ni jambo lisilo na mkanganyiko wala shaka. Kwa hivyo wakageukia kuwaiga baba zao waliopotoka, na wakasema, "Bali tuliwakuta baba zetu wakifanya hivyo hivyo." Nasi tukawafuata hivyo hivyo, na tukazihifadhi ada zao.
