Al-Baqara
This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. The site does not say who translated it or which printed edition it follows, and states no terms for taking its text, so the right to show it is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there; a verse the site gives no commentary of its own stands with the passage before it, and the index names each such verse. وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ ٱلْأَسْمَآءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ فَقَالَ أَنۢبِـُٔونِى بِأَسْمَآءِ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ 31
Kisha, pale kauli ya Malaika, amani iwe juu yao, ilipokuwa inaashiria ubora wao juu ya huyo khalifa ambaye Mwenyezi Mungu atamweka katika ardhi, Mwenyezi Mungu Mtukufu alitaka kuwabainishia katika ubora wa Adam. Ambao kwa ubora huo watajua ubora wake, na ukamilifu wa hekima na elimu ya Mwenyezi Mungu.
(31) Hivyo, “akamfundisha Adam majina yote.” Yani ya vitu vyote, yani namna vinavyoitwa, na akamfunza jina na maana yake, yani matamshi na maana, hata ukubwa wa neno kama vile ‘hili bakuli’, na udogo kama vile ‘kijibakuli’. “Kisha akaviweka,” yani aliweka hivyo vilivyotajwa “mbele ya Malaika” ili kuwajaribu, je wanavijua au la?" Na akasema: Niambieni majina ya hivi ikiwa mnasema kweli,” katika ile kauli yenu na dhana (firika) yenu kuwa nyinyi ni bora kuliko khalifa huyu.
