This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُۥ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِى بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ 66
{66} Yaaqub akawaambia, “Sitamuachilia pamoja nanyi mpaka mnipe agano kwa Mwenyezi Mungu.” Yaani, agano nzito, na muape kwa Mwenyezi Mungu kwamba, “lazima mtanijia naye isipokuwa ikiwa mtazungukwa.” Yaani: isipokuwa ikiwa mtapatwa na jambo ambalo hamna uwezo nalo, wala hamuwezi kulizuia. "Basi walipompa agano yao” kwa mujibu wa aliyoyasema na alivyotaka; "Akasema: Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Mtegemewa kwa tuyasemayo.” Yaani, unatutosha ushuhuda Wake juu yetu, na ulinzi Wake, na dhamana Yake.
