Az-Zumar
This is a translation of Tafsīr as-Saʿdī as IslamHouse.com publishes it at saadi.islamenc.com, read from that site’s pages. أَوْ تَقُولَ لَوْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ 57
(57) ﴾ أَوۡ تَقُولَ لَوۡ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هَدَىٰنِي لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ ﴿ "Atau supaya jangan ada yang berkata, 'Kalau sekiranya Allah memberi petunjuk kepadaku, tentulah aku termasuk orang-orang yang bertakwa'." Ungkapan ﴾ لَوۡ ﴿ (kalau sekiranya) pada ayat ini bermakna "angan-angan." Maksud-nya, kalau seandainya Allah memberiku petunjuk, maka tentu aku menjadi seorang yang bertakwa kepadaNya sehingga aku selamat dari siksa dan berhak mendapat pahala. Jadi, ﴾ لَوۡ ﴿ di sini bukan kata syarat, sebab kalau sekiranya bermakna syarat tentu mereka akan beralasan (berargumen) dengan Qadha` dan Qadar atas ke-sesatan mereka; dan itu adalah hujjah (argumen) yang palsu, dan semua argumen palsu pada Hari Kiamat nanti akan lenyap (tidak berguna).
