Nobody has compared it with a printed book or a manuscript, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there. Where the text carries a note of an editor’s, in double brackets, it is shown as it stands. There is no translation yet.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَظَلَمُوا۟ لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَرِيقًا 168 إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًا 169
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿إنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وظَلَمُوا﴾ قالَ مُقاتِلٌ وغَيْرُهُ: هُمُ اليَهُودُ أيْضًا كَفَرُوا بِمُحَمَّدٍ والقُرْآنِ. وفي الظُّلْمِ المَذْكُورِ هاهُنا قَوْلانِ.
أحَدُهُما: أنَّهُ الشِّرْكُ، قالَهُ مُقاتِلٌ. والثّانِي: أنَّهُ جَحْدُهم صِفَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ في كِتابِهِمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿لَمْ يَكُنِ اللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ﴾ يُرِيدُ مَن ماتَ مِنهم عَلى الكُفْرِ. وقالَ أبُو سُلَيْمانَ: لَمْ يَكُنِ اللَّهُ لِيَسْتُرَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَبِيحَ فِعالِهِمْ، بَلْ يَفْضَحُهم في الدُّنْيا، ويُعاقِبُهم بِالقَتْلِ والجَلاءِ والسَّبْيِ، وفي الآخِرَةِ بِالنّارِ ﴿وَلا لِيَهْدِيَهم طَرِيقًا﴾ يَنْجُونَ فِيهِ.
وَقالَ مُقاتِلٌ: طَرِيقًا إلى الهُدى ﴿وَكانَ ذَلِكَ عَلى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا﴾ يَعْنِي: كانَ عَذابُهم عَلى اللَّهِ هَيِّنًا.
