Nobody has compared it with a printed book or a manuscript, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there. Where the text carries a note of an editor’s, in double brackets, it is shown as it stands. There is no translation yet.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ 20 أَمْوَٰتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَآءٍ ۖ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ 21
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: " والَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ " قَرَأ عاصِمٌ: يَدْعُونَ بِالياءِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿أمْواتٌ غَيْرُ أحْياءٍ﴾ يَعْنِي: الأصْنامَ. قالَ الفَرّاءُ: ومَعْنى الأمْواتِ هاهُنا: أنَّها لا رُوحَ فِيها. قالَ الأخْفَشُ: وقَوْلُهُ: " غَيْرُ أحْياءٍ " تَوْكِيدٌ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿وَما يَشْعُرُونَ أيّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ﴾ " أيّانَ " بِمَعْنى: " مَتى " .
وَفِي المُشارِ إلَيْهِمْ قَوْلانِ:
أحَدُهُما: أنَّها الأصْنامُ، عَبَّرَ عَنْها كَما يُعَبِّرُ عَنِ الآدَمِيِّينَ. قالَ ابْنُ عَبّاسٍ: (p-٤٣٨)وَذَلِكَ أنَّ اللَّهَ تَعالى يَبْعَثُ الأصْنامَ لَها أرْواحٌ ومَعَها شَياطِينُها، فَيَتَبَرَّؤُونَ مِن عِبادَتِهِمْ، ثُمَّ يُؤْمَرُ بِالشَّياطِينِ والَّذِينَ كانُوا يَعْبُدُونَها إلى النّارِ.
والثّانِي: أنَّهُمُ الكُفّارُ، لا يَعْلَمُونَ مَتى بَعْثُهم، قالَهُ مُقاتِلٌ.
