QUL does not say which printed edition it follows and states no licence for the texts, so the right to show them is not verified. Nobody has compared it with a printed book or a manuscript, and no scholar has reviewed it. Each passage stands beside the verses it comments on, which are the Qur’ān text of Tanzil, shown as it is there. Where the text carries a note of an editor’s, in double brackets, it is shown as it stands. There is no translation yet.

وَأَمَّا ٱلْغُلَـٰمُ فَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤْمِنَيْنِ فَخَشِينَآ أَن يُرْهِقَهُمَا طُغْيَـٰنًا وَكُفْرًا 80
﴿وَأمّا الغُلامُ﴾ الَّذِي قَتَلْتُهُ ﴿فَكانَ أبَواهُ مُؤْمِنَيْنِ﴾ لَمْ يُصَرِّحْ بِكُفْرانِهِ، أوْ بِكُفْرِهِ؛ إشْعارًا بِعَدَمِ الحاجَةِ إلى الذِّكْرِ لِظُهُورِهِ.
﴿فَخَشِينا أنْ يُرْهِقَهُما﴾ فَخِفْنا أنْ يَغْشى الوالِدَيْنِ المُؤْمِنَيْنِ ﴿طُغْيانًا﴾ عَلَيْهِما، ﴿وَكُفْرًا﴾ لِنِعْمَتِهِما بِعُقُوقِهِ، وسُوءِ صَنِيعِهِ، ويُلْحِقَ بِهِما شَرًّا وبَلاءً. أوْ يُقْرِنَ بِإيمانِهِما طُغْيانَهُ وكُفْرَهُ، فَيَجْتَمِعُ في بَيْتٍ واحِدٍ مُؤْمِنانِ وطاغٍ كافِرٌ. أوْ يُعْدِيَهِما بِدائِهِ، ويُضِلَّهُما بِضَلالِهِ فَيَرْتَدّا بِسَبَبِهِ. وإنَّما خَشِيَ الخَضِرُ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ مِنهُ ذَلِكَ؛ لِأنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحانَهُ أعْلَمَهُ بِحالِهِ، وأطْلَعَهُ عَلى سِرِّ أمْرِهِ. وقُرِئَ: (فَخافَ رَبُّكَ) أيْ: كَرِهَ سُبْحانَهُ كَراهَةَ مَن خافَ سُوءَ عاقِبَةِ الأمْرِ فَغَيَّرَهُ، ويَجُوزُ أنْ تَكُونَ القِراءَةُ المَشْهُورَةُ عَلى الحِكايَةِ بِمَعْنى: فَكَرِهْنا، كَقَوْلِهِ تَعالى: ﴿لأهَبَ لَكِ﴾ .
