Translations

This translation is its translator’s, not Sabīl’s. It is shown as its source gives it, as a text of its own under each book with the translator’s own headings: it does not stand line for line beside the Arabic, and it keeps the faults of the copy it was read from. Sabīl has not checked it against the Arabic, and no scholar has reviewed it.

This is the Arabic text of al-Ghazālī’s Iḥyāʾ ʿUlūm al-Dīn as the OpenITI corpus has it, from Shamela’s copy of the Dār al-Maʿrifa edition. Nobody has compared it with the printed book or a manuscript, and no scholar has reviewed it. The corpus says that in some pages a part of the text is missing and that the editor’s footnotes are mixed with the text; both are shown as they stand. The pages of the printed edition are marked where they end. The translations are their translators’, each read from the copy named with it and shown as a text of its own under each book, with its own headings: none is set line for line against the Arabic, Karim’s English abridges the book as its translator says, and each keeps the faults of the copy it was read from. Sabīl has translated nothing, has not checked any translation against the Arabic, and no scholar has reviewed one.
